About Me

new4This is me. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1996 from the Derner Institute for Advanced Psychological Studies, and my NYS License in 1997. I’ve been a Certified Group Psychotherapist for decades. Before moving my practice to the Upper West Side, I held positions as Internship Training Director and Director of Group Therapy Services at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. My practice has been in NYC since 2002, on the Upper West Side for 15 years. I have served on the Board of Directors of EGPS , the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society, and have been an active member of the Derner Institute Advisory Council. Currently, I supervise doctoral candidates of both the Derner Institute and City University of New York.

My training is psychodynamic, and I generally think in terms of how early relationships form the template for future relating. This informs my way of thinking, and gives me a solid base from which to work creatively with each individual in my practice. Whether I”m working with an individual, a couple, or a group, I embrace the challenges of each unique personality.

This is Dr. Simba.  You can read more about him on his own page.
